Obituary for John Henry Wirth

John Wirth of Neudorf, SK passed away August 12, 2008 at the age of 92 years John was born April 26, 1916 on the family farm in the Neudorf district to Henry and Elizabeth (nee Stoll) Wirth. He was the third oldest in a family of eleven children. John was baptized and confirmed in the farm church and was raised in the Lutheran faith. Being the oldest boy in the family, John learned how to work and care for his younger siblings as well as helping with the farm work with his parents. This is where his love of farming began. John married his life partner Martha (Goebel) November 6, 1938 and together they farmed one mile west of the family farm. They were blessed with four children, Edwin, Glenn, Rodney and Donna. Family and farming were John’s biggest loves. Whether it was seeding, harvesting, butchering or gardening, the family would enjoy working along side of Dad. He was always eager to help his family, friends and neighbors. After forty-six years of being on the farm, John and Martha moved into Neudorf in 1984. That’s when the Chevy began its road trips to check crops and cattle. This is also when gardening became one of John’s pastimes, and a beautiful garden it always turned out to be. John and Martha’s home was the central place for many family gatherings. John loved his family very much and enjoyed spending time with them all, especially having them over for a game of cards. John leaves behind to celebrate his life: his loving wife of 69 years, Martha (Goebel),; his children, Edwin (Ruth), Glenn (Carol), Rodney (Delores) and Donna (Barclay); his grandchildren, Debbie, Darren (Lori), Susan (Terry), Casey (Triphina), Carmen, Shannon (Lee), Jay (Carrie), Jordon (Cristal), Tina (Curtis), Jared, Amanda (Shane), Michael (Jen) and Mathew; his great-grandchildren, Troy, Travis, Dillan, Lance, Ryan, Sarah, Justin, Kristoffer, Johnathan, Jayda, Stewart, Shelby, Carter, Sierra, Jaiden, Branden and Austin. He also leaves his sister, Lizzie; his brothers, Fred, Ernie, Victor, Art and Cliff, along with numerous in-law, nieces, nephews and many dear friends. John was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Elizabeth (Stoll); his brothers, William (in infancy) and Ted; and his sisters, Mary and Tillie.
