Obituary for John William Lutz

John William Lutz
JJohn William Lutz was born to parents John and Rosie (Litzenberger) Lutz on July 20, 1937. He attended Halech School. While going to school, John worked on the family farm, and in 1959 he started farming on his own. After a few years of courtship, he married Judy Fuhr, and they were blessed with two children, Cheryl and Allen. John was the most incredible handyman, which was evident from a very young age. Learning everything on his own, he could build and fix absolutely anything. John did a lot of repairing for the RM of Stanley, repairing of his farm equipment and a lot of remodelling. He was always there for neighbours or anybody who needed a helping hand, whether it was combining or spraying or just fixing a piece of equipment. He was treasurer of the Zion Lutheran Church in Fenwood, was on the board for the Success Telephones until it joined Sasktel, served on the ushering staff for Zion Lutheran Church in Melville and helped in the repairs of the church. John entertained many people for over 47 years playing with the Sundowners and the Melville Rhythmaires for 20 years and other groups. John quit farming in 2006 and retired in Melville. He and Judy enjoyed Texas winters for many years. There were many fishing trips north with friends and many years spent at their second home, the cabin at Crooked Lake. They enjoyed holidays to British Columbia to visit relatives from where they always brought fruit back from the family orchards. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play their different sports and was very proud of them. You would see him at the hockey rinks watching Derek and Travis play hockey and Kelsey and Chad play badminton, volleyball and basketball.

John was predeceased by his parents, John and Rosie Lutz; Judy's parents, Henry and Elsie Fuhr; infant sister Charlotte Lutz; brothers-in- law, Russel Skorobohach, Don Erbach, Allan Broome and Ervin Schmidt; sister-in-law, Elaine Lutz; nephews Darren Erbach and infant Ralph Schmidt.

Left to mourn his passing and celebrate his life are his wife and best friend of 55 years, Judy; daughter Cheryl and her children, Kelsey and Chad; son Allen and Karen and their children Derek and Travis; sisters Irene, Gladys, Doreen and Gloria; brother Art (Alice); nieces and nephews; and many friends and relatives.
