Obituary for
Ernest Herman "Ernie" Wirth
Ernest Herman Wirth was born on July 21, 1924. He was the eighth child of Henry and Elizabeth (nee Stoll) Wirth and grew up on the farm just outside of Neudorf. Ernie met his wife Lily at a barn dance, and after many dances, they were married on October 19, 1951. They farmed on the Reimer homestead and had three children. They retired from farming and moved into Melville the summer of 1986.
To keep himself busy, Ernie helped David with the farming, and in his spare time, he created some pretty awesome woodworking projects, one in particular being the RCMP musical ride. He also enjoyed showing off some of the odd vegetables that they grew in their garden and regularly going to Alf’s Service Centre for coffee.
Ernie’s health started to fail, and he passed away February 23, 2015 at the age of 90 years.
Ernie was predeceased by his parents, sisters Mary and Tillie, brothers John, Fred and Ted and his youngest son, Harvey. He leaves to mourn his passing: his loving wife of 63 years, Lily; his children, David (Delphine), Leona and daughter-in-law, Sheila; three grandchildren, Jobina (Kris), Bartley (Amanda), Mandy (P.J.); six great-grandchildren, Jerrod (Maddy), Paxton, Declan, Olivia, Jackie and Mickey; one great-great-grandchild, Paisley; a sister, Lizzie; brothers, Victor, Art and Cliff; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
