Obituary for Catherine Alice "Cathy" McDougall

Catherine Alice "Cathy" McDougall
Cathy McDougall of Melville passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at the age of 86 years.

Catherine Alice McDougall was the youngest of 14 children born to John and Jane (nee Davies) Jones of Cypress River, Manitoba on February 3, 1929. Cathy moved to Melville in 1959 where she resided with her sister Mary Ruston and family. She worked in sheltered workshops in Yorkton and Regina until returning to Melville, where she worked at Rail City Industries until her retirement. She lived in Heritage House and moved to St. Paul Lutheran Home in 2008, where she resided until her passing.

Cathy loved to socialize and spent many hours playing cards, bingo and attending musical get- togethers. She was always happy to have visitors and enjoyed a good chat. Her quiet times would find her knitting, reading or doing jigsaw puzzles. Cathy had a great sense of humor and was always up for a good joke. She had a wonderful life at St. Paul Lutheran Home and spoke highly of her caregivers. She enjoyed her time there because it fulfilled all the things she loved the most.

Cathy was predeceased by her parents, John and Jane Jones; brothers Robert (in infancy), Jack, Richard, William, Robert (a second brother given that name) and David; sisters Amy, Maggie and Jenny Jones; brothers-in-law Ernie Downing, Edward Ruston, George Aubry and Glenn MacDonald; sisters-in-law Agnes Jones, Edith Jones and Bernice Jones; niece Sharon Ruston and nephew Murray Jones. She is survived by her brother Murray Jones (Jean) and sisters Mary Ruston, Nellie Aubry, and Laura MacDonald. She is also survived by 3 nephews, 13 nieces and numerous great-nephews and nieces and their respective families.
