Obituary for Adeline Sharon Kolodziejak (Kreklewich)

Adeline Sharon Kolodziejak (Kreklewich)
Adeline Sharon Kolodziejak greeted the world on May 7, 1948 in Melville, Saskatchewan. She attended St. Henry’s School in Melville. Her height naturally earned her the nickname “Stretch”. This, combined with her father’s passion for sports, meant she participated in many school sports. She met the love of her life, Harvey, during a poker game where he had the upper hand over her. After 6 years of dating, they married at St. Henry’s Roman Catholic Church on October 4, 1969. Known for their hospitality, their door was always open for anyone and was often referred to as the Otthon Hotel. They were truly partners in every aspect of life with a harmony shown by their love of dancing, or “gliding”, together on the dance floor.

Adeline’s career included a writer at CJGX radio and CKOS TV, Leon’s & Ram Industries as an equipment sales rep and Western Grocers in a sales and marketing role. In 1988, Adeline and Harvey decided to combine their talents of carpentry, sewing and sales together to start Exquisite Enterprises Inc. They successfully ventured together for the remainder of her career. She took great pride in their company and would often say that being part of the way loved ones say goodbye was one of the last things you could do for that person.

Adeline was extremely proud of her four daughters Adynea, Krystal, Lynette and Raylene and their accomplishments in education and sports. Adeline was no stranger to gyms throughout the province as she was an active spectator over the many years of volleyball in which the girls participated. She was extremely excited to welcome and spoil her grandchildren Alynah, Austin, Gage, Ty and Autumn. They now have an impressive collection of Halloween and play costumes for all of them to share which she enjoyed designing and sewing for them.

Throughout her life, Adeline spent time enjoying her passions of gardening, cooking, sewing and shopping. Later in life, she became an avid Rider fan and enjoyed cheering for her favourites in curling and tennis. She also loved the many trips taken as a family whether to the US or the Caribbean. It was often an opportunity to combine time spent with the family, playing Scrabble against her daughters and to test her negotiating skills with beach vendors.

Adeline proved she was strong and stubborn by surviving a rocky course of medical challenges during January to March in 2014. While on the mend with a new lease on life and the anticipation of retiring, she was suddenly taken from us on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre.

All who knew her will miss her vibrant personality, contagious enthusiasm and her infectious smile with a unique and boisterous laugh.

Adeline is survived by her husband and “bud”, Harvey; their daughters Adynea (Blair) and their children Alynah and Austin, Krystal (Nathan) and her step- daughter Jordyn, Lynette (Justin) and their daughter Autumn, Raylene (Kyle) and their sons Gage and Ty. Adeline also leaves her siblings Marilyn (Graeme), Charlotte (Larry) and Larry (Bev) and several nieces and nephews Jodi, Kris, Rhonda, Carla, Belinda, Andrew, Kirri, Fiona, Leland and Brittany and their families and her sister-in-law Diane. She was predeceased by her parents Andrew and Rose Kreklewich (nee Novakowski), her in-laws Victor and Helen (nee Pifko) Kolodziejak, brother-in-law Ron King, many aunts, uncles and cousins.
