Obituary for Iva Kathleen "Kay" Sotkowy (Parker)

Iva Kathleen (Kay) Sotkowy was born on September 17, 1917, 99 years and 10 months ago, to parents Warren and Iva (Robinson) Parker. At that time the family was living on a farm in the Duck Point school district in the Qu’Appelle Valley south of Neudorf. In 1923 they moved to Grenfell, Saskatchewan, where she attended school. Being a friendly person, Kay made many friends while working in Hobson’s Pharmacy, Claxtons and the Co-op store. She was fond of music and sang in the church choir for many years.

Kay was predeceased by parents Warren Parker (1957) and Iva Parker (1980), a sister Muriel (1969) and an infant brother Donald. She is survived by two daughters, Thurza Mann and Bonnie Armbruster, grandchildren Lorraine, Mary Jane, Kendra and Bradley, twelve great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters-in-law Pat Sotkowy, Inez Bennett and nieces and nephews of the Bennett family.

Private family interment will take place in the Grenfell cemetery at a later date. To leave a message of condolence to the family, visit www.matthewsfuneralhome.ca. Arrangements are entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home, Melville.
