Obituary for Wayne Gary Waldbauer

Wayne Gary Waldbauer
Wayne Gary Waldbauer was born July 24, 1951, in Melville, SK to Gladys (Eipert) and John G. Waldbauer. He was raised on a farm three kilometres northwest of Killaly as the oldest of seven children. Wayne attended Prairie School until 1965, at which time he transferred studies to Neudorf until his high school graduation. Afterwards he went on to earn a post-secondary certificate in Radio and Television Electronics from the Moose Jaw Technical School.

Upon convocation from Moose Jaw, Wayne travelled to Mexico for a three and a half month journey, which he remembered fondly. Upon returning to Canada, he was joined by his brother Kelly working for Canadian Pacific Railway on the extra gangs from Ontario, west through Saskatchewan.
In 1974 he met his future wife, Barbara Goebel, and they married the next year on October 10, 1975. After residing briefly in Regina and working at General Instruments, they moved permanently to Neudorf in 1976. Barb found work at the local school, and Wayne worked for the RM of McLeod, as well as assisting with the family farm. In 1978 they opened Waldbauer’s TV & Appliances, where Wayne continued to work until 2000, both in Neudorf and then Melville after the relocation of the business. Wayne also continued working at the family farm with his father and brother Kelly until his father’s retirement. After closing the business, he worked in Melville at FasGas, Mr. T,J.’s and then began driving long-haul trips for Olympic Taxi. Wayne enjoyed his work transporting CN, CP and VIA Rail crews throughout Saskatchewan and Manitoba, as well as continuing to help farm with various close friends.

Wayne and Barbara were blessed with three wonderful children; Tannis, Ian and Nathan. During his younger years, Wayne loved to play fastball, curling, hockey, broomball and hunting. After his playing days wound down, Wayne could often be found at the sports grounds volunteering or enjoying games as a spectator. He was a great volunteer of his time and skills throughout his years, ranging from coaching fastball to sports ground improvement and numerous other activities that he performed dutifully with great pride.

Wayne passed away, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer, at Pasqua Hospital in Regina, on the morning of March 16, 2015. Sadly, he was predeceased by both his parents, Gladys and John, and by his brother Kelly(three years to the day, prior to his death). He is survived by his loving wife Barbara; daughter Tannis (Shakya), husband Sameer and beautiful grandchildren Maya and Camden of High River, AB; son Ian and wife Alanna of Winnipeg, MB; son Nathan and wife Natasha of Regina, SK; sister-in-law Sherri (Kelly) of Melville, SK; brother Lloyd and wife Carol of Edmonton, AB; brother Glenn of Melville, SK; sister Glenda Waldbauer of Winnipeg, MB; brother Neil of Calgary, AB; brother Blaine of Melville, SK; countless aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, whom he loved deeply and who will all miss him dearly.
